Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is committed to supporting customers who are most vulnerable to power disconnection hardships in preparing for, enduring, and recovering from power outages intended to reduce the risk of wildfires.
PG&E’s Portable Battery Program provides backup batteries to lessen the impact of power outages on customers who rely on medical devices. In 2020 and 2021, PG&E collaborated with community-based organizations to provide customers with more than 10,700 portable batteries. This year, PG&E is continuing this work to deliver even more batteries. Program partners will reach out to eligible customers to conduct a phone or email assessment in order to match the customer with the best fully subsidized battery available for their specific needs.
Selected PG&E Medical Baseline customers should expect an outreach phone call, where a representative will collect data, medical device information, and survey emergency preparedness plans to ensure the customer can be included in the evaluation for inclusion in this program.
